Sansom Estate is a 58,000m2 site, subdivided in 4 industrial units.
Facility 1 – The building at Berkshire Road consisted of a 7500m2 warehouse, 700m2 office and over 8000m2 of concrete hardstands. The contract included supply and installation of fire, electrical and hydraulic infrastructure to accommodate a further 3 buildings on the adjoining land.
The building was constructed from structural steel clad with precast panels and colourbond sheeting. The internal floor slabs and external hardstands were constructed using fibre reinforced concrete which significantly reduced the amount of construction joints required.
The fire services included the installation of a pump and tank system which was serviced by 3 in-ground bores. PS Structures were involved in the design of this unique fire system which through the use of bores alleviated the need for a second fire tank which in turn provided an increased amount of hardstand.
A private high voltage substation was also constructed as a part of the project which included the installation of new transformers and switchgear. This involved considerable liaison with Western Power to ensure that power was made available to the site in time for commissioning of the services.
The successful completion of the Facility 1 building resulted in the client awarding PS Structures the contracts to construct a further 3 buildings on the adjoining land.
