Carmel High School
Construction of the new Carmel High School Innovative Learning Centre was completed in 48 weeks and involved close interface with the operating school. The ground floor comprises two separate blocks with a food technology area coupled with canteen services near an ablution area. This is linked to a general learning area comprising of a number of classrooms and art studios from which access to the first floor can be made by way of staircases and a lift. The staff area is well lit and has interface with meeting rooms. Learning enrichment is continued with music/drama studios offering state of the art facilities to this top, elite private school.
External elevations catch the eye with painted CFC constructed at angles to ensure the building provides an elaborate combination of finished painted materials with exposed facebrick which blends in with the current ambience of the existing school. Modern architecture coupled with traditional brickwork assures that this building is a distinct land mark in the environment of the school.
Project and site management were diligent in appreciating the cultural and religious requirements of the school during the construction phase. Close communication with school staff ensured a timely completion to the satisfaction of both parties privy to the assembly process.
